WHAT LEAD ME HERE:

I was the kiddo that didn’t want to go to homecoming or prom, but was fascinated by hair and makeup, and would stay behind to get my friends ready. Many of those sweet, sweet memories of subjecting my brothers to “makeovers”, using egg whites for mousse, and maybe, if they sat still, a little shadow and brow never hurt anybody. We would write scripts, draw out tickets for our “productions” to sell the family, in hopes for a full audience, but the cats never sat through a full performance.

I started to volunteer in college as an actress, hair and wig designer for a local theater, and fell in love. At the time, I worked as a job developer for adults with disabilities, and incorporated my work at the theater, with my friends and clients from work. People rise to the occasion when given the opportunity. It wasn’t just a job for me, but looking back, I think that is the first time I fell in love with the human race, care giving, and advocating for people who needed an extra voice.

Working in theater led me to the Aveda Institute of Ann Arbor, to pursue a career within, and beyond the beauty industry. In addition to salon life,  I’ve had the honor to work with the SMTD department at UofM on various productions for the last 13 years. Some of my proudest credits include, The Cunning Little Vixen, Caberet, Cendrillon, Guys and Dolls, and American Idiot.

Behind the chair in daily life, I specialize in hair color, shear and razor cutting, but there’s not much I don’t like to do... I have a sweet spot for transformational, and avant-garde styling.
